I have been offering hog hunts on the ranch for the past 8 years.
During that time, hog hunting has grown in popularity to rival that of deer hunting. There are a lot of hogs in the State of Texas.
The game is that you have to out-smart them. They are surely the smartest animal on the ranch and they seem to know when you are there hunting them. This is the challenge.
Of course, pigs have a weakness for good food. I feed them a mixture of Golden Nuggets and corn from spin feeders. They really like the Golden Nuggets because they have a sweet berry flavor. On hog hunts, I also put out some extra sweet feed that has a lot of molasses in it.
The hogs love a good meal. And sometimes we provide their
last good meal if you know what I mean. Then, they provide us
a good meal. The circle of life is awesome !

Blair Christensen from Colorado harvested this huge boar on the ranch. We do not know exactly how much this hog weighed, but I would estimate about 400 lbs.
Blair and his group of hunters are some of the most skilled hog hunters I have ever worked with.
They are always successful in their hunting adventures on the ranch.

Ken VanderWaal from Wisconsin harvested this hairy boar on Dec. 21, 2007. The boar had pretty good tusks. Look how hairy this hog is. Lots of thick hair. We had a cold front come in on the day of this harvest. The cold wind blew in from the north in heavy gusts all day, but subsided by nightfall and a big moon lit up the sky. Everyone had fun, even though the conditions were not perfect for hog hunting.

Scott is part of the "Rocky Mountain Boys" hog hunting team that visits the ranch each year for their annual hog harvest festival.
Man, that is a lot of pork.

COST OF THE HUNT - $ 100 for the first day and the second day is FREE.
HUNTING FEE = $ 100 for the first night and the second night is FREE
Per Person Harvest Limit is 2 hogs per day per person. $ 50 per hog after two in one day.
GUIDE FEE = $ 100 per night. This is a group charge or a one on one charge.
Optional You get a true adventure hunt when I am your guide. We will sneak in on feeders
on night stalk adventure hunts. If you get scared of getting close to wild hogs at night,
then the night stalk hunt may not be for you.
Otherwise, we can corn some roads and drive around and use the truck to get around
to the feed locations. I know how to navigate the ranches at night and how to get in close
to feed areas using " into the wind direction " strategy.
This is not a mandatory expense, but it is available if you are interested in trying it out to see what it is like.
$ 100 split by 4 hunters would be a $ 25 per hunter charge.
RANCH HOUSE LODGING FEE = $ 30 for one night. $ 50 for two nights. Ranch house lodging may be available.
Inquire in advance about booking the ranch house.
FEED COST = I require that all hunters supply ( 2 ) 50 lb. bags of corn to be used as scatter corn around feed areas
or on roads and hog crossings. You can buy corn at the grocery store in town. About $ 7.50 per bag.
SCOPE LIGHT RENTAL = $ 10 per night. Not a mandatory deal. It is an extra that can make the difference in
Optional getting a hog or not. It is mandatory for night stalking adventures.
The scope light clips on to your scope and you use a toggle switch to turn it on / off.
GAME CAMERA BATTERIES = I operate game cameras at the feeders. I go through a lot of batteries.
Each camera takes six D size batteries. I would like for each hunter to
bring at least 6 D size batteries.
FIELD PROCESSING = $ 30 per hog. Gutting, skinning, quartering at the ranch.
Optional We do not have a walk-in cooler, so the hogs need to be butchered immediately after harvest.
For hunters driving in to the ranch, large coolers are recommended to bring with you.
If you need more coolers, there is a WAL-MART in Wichita Falls, 30 miles to the North.
I am trying to find " dry ice ", but it seems almost impossible to find anymore.
If anyone knows of how to get info on dry ice vendors, please contact me.
LOCAL BUTCHER = There are a couple of local butchers that can do it all for a fee. They have a walk-in freezer.
Estimated cost is $ 80 - $ 100 per hog for full processing, including
cost of butchering the hog into cuts of meat for table faire.
MOTEL LODGING = The Pipeliner Motel is 13 miles from the Middle Fork Ranch and 6 miles from the 10X Ranch.
